Westmead (2145) is a western suburb of Sydney, approximately 26 kilometres from the central business district. Part of the City of Parramatta, the suburb is best known for its hospital which is one of the city's major medical hubs. Westmead Hospital a major hospital in the Sydney West Area Health Service and a teaching hospital of the University of Sydney.
The suburb is accessible by buses, cars and railway (yellow Western railway line of the City Rail network).
The median house and unit price in the 12 months leading to September 2008 for Westmead are $479,250 and $318,000 respectively. This is above the region's median house and unit price of $360,000 and $280,000.
The residential area of the suburb is a mix of houses and high rise apartment blocks with the latter proving to be very appealing for the first home buyer or invest.
