Paddington, NSW

I've been living in Paddington, NSW for over a year now, and it's the type of suburb that grows on you, not unlike a tree fungus: fuzzy and spore-producting, but with bright colours.
Perhaps that was a rancid analogy. Nonetheless, the fungal approximation still holds.
Paddington is a suburb in Sydney's Eastern Suburbs, and the cost of living definitely confirms the rumours. It's expensive and flashy, with its shopping streets packed with high-priced boutiques and endless assortments of shoe stores and hair salons.
As a barefoot, bald man, I take little comfort in this.
But I can resonate with the beautiful streets, packed with beautiful people. The Victorian terraces, the charm and village-like feel of 5-ways, it's all very easy on the eyes, and a major contribution to a good quality of life.
Sure, it used to be a slum after WWII, but there's nothing slummy about the suburb now, which has been gentrified into non-recognition. Who am I to say, though, as I'm contributing to the effect? And interesting fact from Wikipedia:
"The area has a high level of foreign ancestry, with only 25% of people in the 2001 census identifying that their parents were born in Australia. In contrast, 67% had parents who were born in North-West European nations, such as England and Ireland."
