Houses made from lint

Not bellybutton lint, though that'd be an achievement, but the lint from vacuum cleaners. I found this link on BoingBoing, a page dedicated to dollhouses covered in vacuum cleaner lint.
It's by artist Maria A. Lopez and she packs up all this dirt and vacuum cleaner detritus, just to paste it to fancy houses. Small houses, of course.
"The pieces are doll houses covered with vacuum cleaner dust. The architecture of the houses is carefully selected to match them with familiar urban landscapes.
I take them apart and discard some of the decorative elements, so these houses end up almost as a sketch of the original or as a new house in the process of been built, with no doors, no windows, and no flowers. When the dust comes, the whole house and the windows and the flowers are being replaced by dirt. The houses are fully covered, so they began to have a gray scale quality, they look monochromatic almost like a block, minimal, but once you start getting closer you begin to first smell, then to see the hair, the skin, the lint, the debris…you have a physical experience, you realize that there is so much poetry in such ugliness."
But what if you made a real house like this? You could save a fortune on insulation, and if you used dryer lint, your home would smell like springtime fresh even in the winter!
I think people are underestimating the constructive power of lint. It collect everywhere: on our floor, in our bellybuttons, in various electrical appliances. Get up in your attic and throw your lint up there - you'll save money on heating bills.
As one BoingBoing commenter pointed out:
"This sort of thing is what I call "transitory art". This is the kind of art that provokes a "Hmmm, interesting," reaction from the viewer, but little or nothing beyond that.
In this case, my own "Hmmm, interesting" reaction is more to the novelty of the medium used, than to any great depth of meaning."

Yes, it's an interesting idea, but not particularly impressive as art, thought the photos are fun to look at. No, I'm convinced that the artist needs to get hooked up with some contractors and start supplying them with lint for actual homes.
Mark my words.
Mark them well.
