Carramar, WA

October 4th 2006 00:13
Carramar is the focus of today’s “Better Know a Suburb.” Carramar is located in Western Australia, 28km from Perth’s CBD. It is an area that has seen some phenmomal growth in the real estate market over the last 12 months. Residential houses have increased in value by almost one quarter of their initial value over the period of a year. In real estate terms, that is a fantastic return. The majority of homes in Carramar are single storey. Many featuring well groomed, established gardens. The occasional 2 storey home is appearing now in the newer parts of the suburb where block sizes are smaller.

Carramar has grown to cover an area of 14km2 in less than 10 years and is still growing at a fast pace. The vast areas of cleared land are getting furnished with new building works and residential developments. It's just under 10 minutes drive from Joondalup town centre with hosts a large shopping complex and railway station. Carramar is a very popular suburb with both British and South African migrants. You will find parks for the younger children and provision has been made for the building of a community centre, for everything else, including shopping and entertainment you will need to travel to Joondalup.

Getting to the centre of Perth is a trek with either a 20 train ride from nearby Joondalup or a 30 car trip when the traffic is light. Nevertheless, there is plenty of entertainment in the local area to keep the community vibe happening. The nearest beach is 10 minutes away, getting to a marina is only another 5 additional minutes. Carramar is also famous for its scenic championship golf course. The course traverses through the local bushland and many houses in Carramar have a direct view of the sweeping fairways and greens.
