The south-western Sydney suburb of Bass Hill (2197) is located approximately 22 kilometres from the CBD and in part of the Canterbury-Bankstown region of Sydney.
Surrounded by the neighbouring Villawood, Chester Hill, Sefton, Lansdowne, Yagoona, Lansvale, Georges Hall and Condell Park, the suburb of around 7000 people is best known for its drive-in cinema (now closed) and the Crest sporting complex which contains the Dunc Gray Velodrome, home of the track cycling events for the 2000 Sydney Olympics and the Cycling World Cup.

The main commercial area of this culturally diverse suburb is the Bass Hill Plaza on the Hume Highway, and there are two schools, one primary and the other, secondary.
