The Albert Park neighbourhood is well known for its Victoria- era attached and row housing. The limited opportunities for redevelopment relative to other areas within Port Phillip have contributed to a static population from 1996 to present. The area is well served by the Albert Park (Bridport Street/Victoria Avenue) and Middle Park (Armstrong Street) strip shopping areas and the St Kilda light rail line.
Other notable physical features include the foreshore, Albert Park recreation area and the Melbourne Sports and Aquatic Centre.

There is a high proportion of couple families, both with children and without children in the suburb of Albert Park.It is an area that has an especially high proportion of semi-detached houses, and a higher than average proportion of separate houses, for Port Phillip. The area has a high number of high income households and a high level of car ownership. There has been minimal demographic growth over the last decade, with the only significant growth being among 55-64 year olds. The neighbourhood has a high proportion of English only speakers, people born in Australia, as well as a large Greek population.
