Centrally located with easy access to anywhere from the M1 & railway, Nerang is located only 14km to Surfers Paradise, 73km to Brisbane, 30km from Coolangatta airport, and only 20 from all of the theme parks on the Gold Coast. In fact, no other suburb offers such quick and easy access to all parts of the Gold Coast. In recent years, Nerang has proved increasingly popular. Its access to the Motorway and Brisbane, short drive to major beaches, business and retail shopping on the Gold Coast and proximity to the Hinterland have been a major influence on the suburb's increasing favour with buyers.

Wallsend, NSW

March 21st 2007 00:27
Wallsend is the hub of western Newcastle offering both commercial and residential spaces. An early aboriginal name for the Wallsend area was Barrahinebin. The suburb began as two mining towns, Wallsend and Plattsburg. Wallsend was the more developed and as it grew it linked to Plattsburg via Nelson Street. Wallsend was proclaimed a separate municipality in early 1874 but the two areas had re-joined by 1915. The coal mined at Wallsend was of very good quality and the township prospered creating the commercial hub it is today.

Resident Groups meet on a regular basis to discuss issues and concerns about their area. Wallsend has two such groups. The Wallsend East Residents’ Association and The Wallsend Heritage Group Inc.

Stockton, NSW

March 19th 2007 00:21
The suburb of Stockton is located across the harbour, opposite Newcastle city. The area is an affordable residential suburb and a popular holiday destination. Stockton is surrounded by the ocean and a number of parks, providing many recreational activities. Pitt Street Reserve and Griffith Park are linked by a cycle way and provide some picnic areas. Other facilities in the suburb include a skate ramp, a swimming centre, tennis courts, ovals and the Ballast Ground, a large park on the coast. The Stockton Beach Tourist Park attracts tourists to the area and provides limited recreational activities.

Stockton has often been called the first suburb in Newcastle. It was originally known as Pirates Point after a gang of escaped convicts who had seized a boat were wrecked there in 1800. The area became privately owned by industrialists and the southern end of the peninsula was subdivided for residential purposes.

Is your property heritage listed

March 16th 2007 00:17
Knowing whether a property is heritage listed before you buy is an important piece of information to haev when it come to makeing the decision of whether you want to invest in the property or not. Heritage listings acknowledge the importance of our cultural heritage. They're a way of protecting our past and present for the future.

Thankfully, it's easy to check if your property is listed. Heritage listing acknowledges that a place has heritage significance. It alerts owners, planners, decision makers, researchers, and the community to the values of a heritage place. A place can be listed by one of several agencies, each with its own criteria.

Heritage Listing

March 9th 2007 00:30
Hear the words "heritage listing" and it can send shivers down the spine's of property purchasers and developers. Every Friday for the next few weeks I'll discuss different aspects of heritage listed property and address some of the more common questions related to those people who are either looking to invest in a heritage listed property or presently own a heritage listed property.

Heritage listed properties are idenitfied distinctly from regular properties. There are a number of local, State and Commonwealth heritage laws that may affect heritage listed property which are not relevant to non-heritage listed property. On a federal level, the Commonwealth of Australia Parliament passed heritage legislation in September 2003 which identifies, conserves and protects places of national heritage significance. These include the Environment and Heritage Legislation Amendment Act (No 1) 2003 (Cth), Australian Heritage Council Act 2003 (Cth) and the Australian Heritage Council (Consequential and Transitional Provisions) Act 2003. Where appropriate, the relevant local or state legislation will apply to a heritage listed property.

Karratha is a modern township that is now recognised as the regional administrative centre of the Pilbara. Other town sites include the industry-based Dampier and Wickham, the historic towns of Roebourne and Cossak and of course the coastal retreat of Point Samson. All these towns are located within a 50 square kilometre radius. With excellent winter weather, great fishing, spectacular scenery of the Millstream and Karijini National Parks right on our doorstep, inland Western Australia is most definitely a great place to live.

Along with the great outdoors to experience in the region, there are several areas of interest such as Historical Cossack, the Dampier Archipelago, The Burrup and great hiking trails to walk
