Haberfield, NSW

December 25th 2006 04:16
Just 6 km west of the Sydney CBD, the beautifully preserved suburb of Haberfield boasts of Australia’s finest genuine Federation houses and streetscapes. Haberfield is a big city rarity - a suburb with no through traffic, industry or high rise development. Yet it retains a vibrant lifestyle within the sight of Sydney Harbour and the city skyline. Haberfield is a planned garden suburb, and the first complete suburb to be registered as a Conservation Area. This means that all new buildings, or external alterations to existing buildings, must be in keeping with the character of the suburb.

Richmond, VIC

December 7th 2006 06:13
One of Melbourne's oldest industrial and working class inner suburbs, Richmond has more recently been transformed into one of the city's trendiest residential and retail quarters. Once, along with neighbouring Collingwood and Fitzroy, Richmond was known as a tough part of Melbourne, held back by dominating heavy industry. The Richmond of today is far more affluent, its narrow streets of single-fronted cottages and terrace houses having changed dramatically over the past 20 years. It is now populated by many professionals and younger well-to-do families.

Manuka, ACT

December 5th 2006 00:38
Manuka is located in the heart of the inner south of Canberra and is one of the city's premier residential addresses. Nearby Lake Burley Griffin provides the basis for sailing, wind surfing and ferry rides. Joggers, rollerbladers, walkers and cyclists regularly use its shoreline. People picnic by it, cruise on it and hire all sorts of small craft to just paddle across it. The lake is a great spot for fun and recreation. The suburbs surrounding the Manuka area are some of the most beautiful and most prestigious suburbs in Canberra. Consequently, Manuka is very unique not only for its village like atmosphere but also its locality.

Healesville

December 1st 2006 00:26
Healesville is nestled at the base of the Great Dividing Range as it rises from the Yarra Valley to begin its journey up the east coast of Australia. It was a haven for travelers of yesteryear and is once again emerging as one of the key destinations and an attraction in its own right for travelers to the Yarra Valley. The more obvious delights of the Yarra Valley include a myriad of vineyards and the associated cellar doors and eateries which are little more than a stones throw from the comforts of our town centre. In themselves the wineries offer more opportunity than even the most seasoned traveler could sample fully in a month of Sundays and so more and more city folk are choosing Healesville and the greater Yarra Valley as their permanent home.
